How long have you been designing/developing websites?
About 7 years since I made my first site.

 

How to do clients find you?
As I’m fairly new, mostly just word of mouth at the moment.

What is your favourite CMS?
Dreamweaver, Coda for reference, and textedit…

 

What programs/applications do you use when designing/developing a website?
Photoshop, Dreamweaver, Flash (for graphics only), Coda, Firefox.

 

When starting a new project how do you start?
Photoshop, draw the homepage then cut it up and work out how to translate it into code.

 

What do you feel are the most important skills for web designer/developer to have?
Artistic/Design skills. Doesn’t matter if you’re the best coder, if you cant design your site will look bad.

 

What skills are you currently developing?
SEO if that’s a skill? Its more complex than HTML!

 

When you’re not working what are you 5 favourite things to do?
Terrorising the town on my fixed gear bicycle.
Volunteering in a non-profit bike recycling shop as a cycle mechanic.
Cooking
Looking at the internet.
Playing Hardcourt Bike Polo

Are you freelance or do you work for a company?
Freelance, in my spare time.

 

What other services do you offer? eg SEO, print design, copywriting, hosting etc
Web Design, Graphic Design, Basic SEO… As long as its not a huge project I can offer most things, even if I don’t know how, I learn quick.

 

What is your dream job?
Cycle Mechanic/Earning enough from freelancing to not have a job in an office.

100% totally the wrong way to begin any project (let alone webdesign). The first thing to do is find out the aim of the wehbsite, the target audience and their needs then collect together all the content, build a wireframe and test using a text browser. All you need to do then is add a bit of CSS and it’s done.

Dreamweaver, coda and textedit aren’t cms’ and textedit isn’t even a text editor that can handle web pages.

I guess when you say favorite CMS being dreamweaver you mean the Adobe In Context Editor? I suggest you look at something a bit more powerful for full CMS functionality
