I think it will make visitors feel uncomfortable, because horizontal scrolling is the popular type and people get used to it. What do you think?

If the behaviour is I click on the “About us” link and the site happens to scroll to the right, then I don’t see an issue. If however it’s a fixed height and I’m forced to re-think how I would normally navigate the web, then this could be an issue.

I think they have their place, but personally don’t think in anything other than as an experiment or design showcase. Good set of sites though.
